Kids First Initiative

Jefferson is a neighborhood school transforming into a college and career prep school in partnership with the CA GEAR UP program. Jefferson’s college and career culture emphasizes the A-G high school requirements by providing Core Instruction as well as electives that integrate literacy based projects related to reading informational text and persuasive writing. The strong elective program offered at Jefferson includes classes like Career Technical Education (CTE), Digital Literacy, Band, Orchestra, Chorus, and Spanish. ParentLink App Available for Parents
A new ParentLink App for smart phones is now available to OUSD parents. The App aims to provide and improve all avenues of district and student communication and information for parents.
ParentLink’s easy-to-use App provides emergency messaging, custom messages and language translation. Parents can now get OUSD information when they need it.
OUSD Parents using the district’s Aeries portal will be receiving an e-mail with instructions on how to download the App. For more information, please see the district website at http://www.oside.us/parentlink.

The Oceanside Unified School District has put an emphasis to educate the “whole child” beyond academics. At Jefferson Middle School, our students and staff will be reviewing the 8 Keys of Excellence every week of the school year. Each month the district will utilize one of the 8 Keys of Excellence as a focal point for developing and enhancing character education.
New District Student Absence Policy
The OUSD Board of Education amended administrative regulation 5113(a) at the meeting on August 26th, 2014. The policy now reads, "Absences must be cleared within five (5) school days after the student returns to school."
In accordance with this new policy, please make sure that you clear your student's absence within five (5) school days after their return. You can clear the absence anytime by calling our Attendance Line at 760-757-7586.

The OUSD 2014-15 Student/Parent Handbook is now available for viewing online. The handbook is available in both English and Spanish. Parents can also download a PDF version of this guide. Click Student/Parent Handbook to access this year’s guide.

Online Meal Registration
Parents can register their children online for the 2014-15 OUSD school lunch and breakfast programs. The national program provides meals at a reduced cost; eligible students with an approved free or reduced status may receive meals at no cost. Click Online Meal Registration to get started.
