Balance.jpg

The Oceanside Unified School District has put an emphasis to educate the “whole child” beyond academics.  At Jefferson Middle School, our students and staff will be reviewing the 8 Keys of Excellence every week of the school year.  Each month the district will utilize one of the 8 Keys of Excellence as a focal point for developing and enhancing character education.

The key for April is "Balance".  When we are in balance we make time for the things that are important to us.  Staying in balance is an ongoing process about choices.  We are constantly making choices about what we do, what we say, how we feel, what we think, etc.  Balance is about considering everything that's meaningful and important to us when we make choices about how we spend out time and energy.  When we find the right balance we are happy, healthy, productive, and fulfilled.

Jefferson is home to the OCC Teacher of the Year!

Linda Kallas.JPG

Linda Kallas, our very own Art and Drama Teacher, was selected as the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce and OUSD's Teacher of the Year!  Believing that natural talent comes in a variety of shapes, forms, and sizes, Ms. Kallas has been creating artistic treasures with our Jefferson Falcons for the past 20 years.  With compassion and respect, Ms. Kallas enthusiastically and vigorously shares her passion for the arts with the students she embraces as her own.  Through her efforts, the Del Mar Fair has become a regular display venue for the many award-winning pieces she helps her students create each year.  Ms. Kallas always stresses tolerance and has a knack for developing a unique rapport and lasting bonds with her students.  On her own time, she volunteers at the Oceanside Museum of Art, implementing lessons for the children of Oceanside.  Congratulations, Ms. Kallas!!!
